A truly excellent turtle sanctuary helping to save the
sea turtle population in and around Zanzibar. The
sanctuary has a very large natural cove enough for a
number of sea turtles that are rescued from fisherman
nets or from eating plastic in the sea. Sea turtle eggs
that are also saved (on demand), and hatched at the
sanctuary.
There are around 100 a month old turtles being nurtured by the sanctuary. You will get a chance to feed the sea turtles seaweed. You also get a lesson on how the sanctuary is making a difference and teaching the local population the dos and don'ts for protecting sea turtles and the local marine environment.
